It turns out that Andrey, having received a bank loan for the plant, cannot return it on time, since the plant produced defective products that were not accepted by the customer. Andrey is removed from work and together with Galina he leaves for a new place of work.

A group of Soviet military diplomats needs to get to Stockholm. But direct flight is impossible, there is a war going on, so they go to Sweden via Cairo, where they stay for several days. From Cairo, Petrov’s group flies to Cape Town. But the plane our heroes are flying on crashes over the jungles of Africa...

The war is over. Demobilized soldier Chepurnov goes to his fiancée Vara Karpova, whom he knows by correspondence. On the way on the ferry Chepurnov gets acquainted with the carrier Klavdia. The young woman knows his fiancée and knows that Valentina wrote not only to Chepurnov. But she keeps silent about it - she likes the thoughtful soldier, and she does not want to upset him. And the soldier likes Klavdia, and he already knows everything about her and knows that she is raising her son alone. But he goes to Valentina because he promised. Chepurnov won't stay there long.

The plot is based on the construction of a highway bridge across the Volga River in Saratov. A Moscow correspondent comes to this construction site.
