Soviet propaganda film in two episodes about Stalin's strong and cruel suppression of the 1919 anti-communist uprising in St. Petersburg, Russia. Stalin and Lenin are shown as heroes who destroyed the efforts of anti-communists led by White Russians with support from "bad" British capitalists headed by Sir Winston Churchill and Lloyd George.

Relations between the sailors and the stupid and soulless baron von Berg replacing the senior officer did not develop. By his behavior, he causes the hatred of the whole crew, which develops into a riot when he gives the order to drown the darling of the whole team - a little puppy. All this, as well as a storm in the Pacific Ocean and other dangerous adventures, rally people even more and make them even stronger and more courageous.

The film takes us back to the summer of 1918 and tells the story of how Voroshilov, under the noses of a 300,000-strong German corps, pulled 80 trains loaded with valuable cargo, materials, ammunition, and equipment out of Donbass. With a 15,000-strong army and 50,000 refugees from Ukraine, occupied by Germany, in Tsaritsyn. It was an unprecedented campaign, unparalleled in world military history, because it involved marching 500 km through territory occupied by the White Cossacks, under the command of some of the most capable tsarist cavalry generals, Mamontov and Fitzhelaurov.

Negina, a talented actress at a provincial theater, must leave the stage because her purity of behavior is incompatible with theatrical customs. She loves the student Meluzov, and both dream of an honest, hard-working life. Harsh reality destroys her plans. A natural actress, Negina is unable to leave the theater, and in order to serve art, she is forced to betray her ideals and sell herself. After agonizing doubts, the actress becomes the mistress of the wealthy landowner Velikatov and leaves with him. Meluzov, left alone, angrily denounces the depraved "admirers of talent," the masters of the city.
