In 2000 Alejo Moguillansky, Diego H. Flores and Fermín Villanueva filmed for three days aboard the ARA San Juan submarine. Twenty years later, Alejo Moguillansky edited that old material in this travel chronicle called The Submarine Night, narrated by Luciana Acuña and himself, written together with Mariano Llinás.

In 1969 Argentine filmmaker Hugo Santiago directed Invasión, his opera prima, written by Jorge Luis Borges and Adolfo Bioy Casares, and later settled in France. This film documents his return to Buenos Aires in 2013 to shoot his latest film, Le ciel du centaure.

Eleven young film-makers got together to collaborate in this atypical project. Atypical not only because of its technical specs, but because of its narrative structure. There are several scenes with only the city in common, and more as a conceptual presence at that than as a precise geography. Argentina, the 70’s. One morning, several armed young men, dressed in military uniform, kidnap a Senior Army General and hide him in a modest cottage. There, without the hostage’s awareness of either the reason for his imprisonment or the people who planned it, the young kidnappers subject him to summary trial. In subsequent days, the military man will respond to an interrogation as severe as precise, that will lay bare the tense contradiction between two political and moral ideologies so incompatible that destruction surely awaits one of the opposite fields. The ending unveils a new chapter of a contemporary drama.

With scenes at times current and at others medieval, dramatic or overloaded with useless gestures, Jarry, Ubú Patagónico is a dialogue with “Ubú Rey”, by Alfred Jarry, and his decalogue about theatre. The work also explores Jarry's non-theatrical texts until the material is appropriated in its immateriality by a group of Patagonian Indians who take Mother Ubú prisoner.

The recital project revolved around three Pieces for three soloists by Helmut Lachenmann, a nucleus that manifests itself as an index of radicalism from which a story of the direction that guides the career of its author can be undertaken. The program concluded with the simultaneous performance of those three Pieces, a version that appears in the Lachenmanian catalog under the name of Montage and for which there is no score or record. What is heard at the conclusion of this documentary could be the only record, so far, of that ghost version that the composer advises not to try.

Nothing went as planned: what seemed to be an original idea (taking an international fashion event to a small town in the Argentine Pampas) ended up as a mysterious affair, with a mannequin who seems to have vanished, and who insists on leaving small clues scattered across the immense plains. But nothing seems to be too strange for Commissioner Sirota and her particular method which, this time, includes a clairvoyant, a legendary detective arriving from Santa Rosa and some picturesque “peritas” who choose to work at night, swinging to the rhythm of Ska.
