In this classic German thriller, Hans Beckert, a serial killer who preys on children, becomes the focus of a massive Berlin police manhunt. She made only two known films before her accidental death in exile in Mexico in 1936.

In 1933, a family is divided when the father and one son emigrate to democratic Switzerland while the mother and other son remain in Nazi Germany. The two branches of the family develop along very different paths.
