He's in black tie and a tuxedo of white tales and black trousers. He announces that rhythm is our business, and that's the orchestra's first number, with vocal, sax, bass, and trumpet solos. Myra Johnson sings "You Can't Pull the Wool Over My Eyes" in her animated style, the Three Brown Jacks tap dance, and the short closes with two up-tempo numbers with two sax players tap dancing and the horn players taking off their tux coats to start a make-shift percussion section.

Ruth Etting is the star attraction on the Albertson Travel Agency radio show. When her producers learn that her recordings are on another program at the same time, they devise a contest, based on the words in a song she sings, in which the winner gets Etting's services at a banquet.

This 1929 drama about mistaken identities contains three eight minute scenes that involve talking. The rest of the film is silent and subtitled. The trouble begins when the hero follows a pretty lady aboard an ocean liner. He boards the ship using the name of his friend who was supposed to take the cruise for health reasons. The friend was told that if he did not board the boat, he would not receive his inheritance. Unfortunately for the hero, a male nurse believes that he is the sick friend and forces him to stay in the cabin and subsist upon a diet of goat's milk.

Disguising herself as a vamp and infiltrating the underworld, Mary extracts a confession from the real murderer, Pussyfoot Connor, who is duped by Mary into believing that he sees the ghost of the murdered man. Later, in order to have witnesses to the story, Mary takes a midnight dinner with gang leader Jack Frost, arousing the jealousy of Connor, who enters and accuses Frost of instigating the murder. The police, alerted to the scheme, rush in and arrest the criminals.

Finally, the headline act, Al Trahan, tries to raise the sophistication of the show in his piano-vocal duet with a coloratura. It is questionable if he achieves his goal.

A newspaper publisher's daughter is arrested for speeding. In order to avoid embarrassing her father, since his newspaper is in the midst of an anti-speeding campaign, she uses an assumed name. She is paroled into the custody of an assistant district attorney, who doesn't know who she really is.

Jack Holt plays Sam Sandell, an American engineer working in India who rescues a pretty half-caste girl (Aileen Pringle) from a tiger's attack, but is badly wounded himself. The girl, Chameli Brentwood, nurses him back to health and out of gratitude he marries her, ignoring the fact that he has a fiancée, Harriet Halehurst (Eva Novak), back home.

The latest note says he will die at eight o'clock tonight, so Carr sends a couple men to his house. Sure enough, the many is murdered under everyone's noses, so the two men must find out what really happened.

Ann Annington (Minter) writes book reviews for a newspaper and when a reporter fails his assignment to get an interview with the noted author Harold Hargrave (Glass), she undertakes to meet the young man. She rents the room next door to his work shop and by impersonating a maid soon wins his good graces.

The Native American Siwash people have been displaced from their land and live on a reservation. The wealthy Mr. Boland attempts to buy the reservation from the Siwash for dubious reasons.

A rich Easterner who has always wanted to live in "the Wild West" plans to move to a Western town. Unknown to him, the town's "wild" days are long gone and it is an orderly and civilized place now. The townsmen, not wanting to lose a rich potential resident, contrive to make over the town to suit the young man's fantasy.

Miss Etting plays herself, and the clever opening sequence conveys two messages: 1) that she's very much in demand, and 2) that the grind of stardom is wearing her down. We watch as Ruth gamely performs her signature song "Shine On, Harvest Moon," first in a recording studio, mid-day, then at a radio station in the evening, and finally on the Broadway stage that same night.

When "Eggs Mark the Spot" begins, it appears as if this Vitaphone short will have a plot involving a couple rubes joining the audiences at some radio shows. However, soon this plot just vanishes and nearly all the rest of the film involves showing various radio performers.

Joan Doubleday is a shy spinster, who has been engaged to Monty Wade for 12 years, is secretly adored by Peter Flagg. Her young niece, Jerry, arrives and sets out to capture Monty. On the wedding day, Jerry announces that the grooms have exchanged places and that Peter will marry Joan. A quarrel prevents preparations for the wedding, but Jerry finally convinces Joan that she was meant for Peter.

Dan Williams leaves his small hometown in disgrace, and travels to New York City to try his luck on Broadway. He gets a small part in a Broadway show, but his press agent releases a story that he has a big part and is making $3,000 a week. Dan's father, a banker who is facing a run on his bank, hears about Dan's sudden "fortune" and asks him for financial help. Complications ensue.

Mountaineer Pap Clayton has promised his daughter Sairy Ann (Dorothy Gish) to his cousin Jed Martin, but Sairy Ann loves Dr. Richard Cavanagh (Sam DeGrasse), the son of Judge Lee Cavanagh. In the midst of a feud between the Claytons and the Jacksons, a jealous Jed sets out to kill Richard.
