This winter Absinthe dropped down the rabbit hole to explore this elusive place and brought back some mind bending tales and a pocketful of surprises.

The documentary follows a crew of snowboarders for six weeks in the Chugach mountains, and showcases what it takes to ride these unique Alaskan mountains: the waiting, the stress, the dangers, everything that goes into it and is usually never shown. It also retraces some of the history of this unknown discipline and pays tribute to the pioneers. But the film really focuses on the human aspect and why these people do what they do.

In pursuit of the best that the winter of 2012 had to offer, the Absinthe crew employed a dual strategy to both hustle & hunker down waiting. In a year of erratic snowfall, there was no other way to slay. But by splitting up and spreading out across the globe in smaller groups, they stacked the odds in their favor. The strategy worked. Tight, agile crews tuned themselves to local frequencies enabling them to tap into record-breaking dumps in Europe, heavy sessions in the Pacific Northwest, Japan, and ultimately, Alaska. Nicolas Müller is one of the most revered and iconic snowboarders of all time. Including his childhood, the film offers an opportunity to get to know the king of style like never before. Almost entirely in his own words, Nicolas takes you through the important events in his life which lead him to where he is today. The film reveals that one of his central goals is to demonstrate the importance of following ones intuition. To learn how to rely on this relationship with yourself and to enjoy the journey it takes you on. We live in a world which typically demands us to obey things we might not believe in. Nicolas shows how he tackled these obstacles in order to find his true path, a conscientious path towards self realization.
