Rudi, who’s been quite the ladies’ man, finally wants to settle down and marry Hilde. While sitting alone in his apartment and burning all his old photos and love letters, he notices a woman in the garden. She assets, that she’s hiding from a stubborn admirer and he stupidly offers her to come in … and then it all begins! First, his wife-to-be Hilde shows up, who wants to spend the night before their wedding together. While Rudi tries to hide the unknown woman in his bedroom, a hotel detective shows up and claims he’s following a thief.

Lydia is a spoiled young woman who thinks she can get anything for money. One day she causes an accident in which a motorcyclist is killed. At the trial she meets prosecutor Dan O'Bannon. She is sentenced to prison for manslaughter.

This is a real curiosity; at best a reasonable film, but also a charming little gem. There is a story (in the line of "A Star is Born"), but this merely serves as an excuse, as it is more importantly a kind of moving encyclopedia of about 35 stars making their debut in a talkie (although some of them had already made one talkie), of the technical sound possibilities and of film making. Besides all that, it is entertaining and sometimes hilarious and it has fine one-liners that split my side. The film is also remarkable for making mock of typical German film genres (like the overly sweet romances involving the military), of too heavy acting and of film making in general. I have to mention this one: a short, hysterically funny parody of "Der blaue Engel". What this film in fact says is: do not take any film too seriously. (J. Steed)

A bold crime caper about muckraking journalist Hans Steindecker, who happens to witness a spectacular murder. Shortly afterwards, he makes the acquaintance of Nelly who desperately wants to leave the country and asks for Steindecker′s assistance. She meets Conny's brother Fred at the station and falls in love with him. Vera then decides to spend her future with Fred and fundamentally change her life.

Hungary, 1925. A young lieutenant of the Hungarian army Fröhlich falls in love with his captain's sister, Vilma Horn. While his superior agrees to the marriage, the girl's father has other plans, as the family estate is essentially bankrupt and can only be saved by Vilma's marriage to a rich American of Hungarian origin. So the father asks the young lieutenant to break off the engagement, which the young man dutifully does. But Vilma's brother has no idea about the state of affairs and challenges the young lieutenant to a duel for seemingly betraying his sister...

TV star Benjamin inherits from his uncle a cloak of invisibility. Invisible he must discover that his wife is cheating on him with his best friend and asks her in front of the television camera, it does not do to. A journalist on the hunt for a story, adds to the confusion.

Young Jan Bergwall visits his grandmother, the so-called centenary, at Woyland Castle. There he meets his cousin Andrea, who everyone calls "Fundvogel". Jan is fascinated by the young girl's beauty, and soon there is an erotic tension in the air between the two. Although they both have strong feelings for each other, they are afraid to make a commitment, even though their domineering grandmother is determined that they marry. Panicked that he might feel obliged to marry Andrea, Jan escapes from this place. Andrea is deeply disappointed and seeks revenge. Out of spite, she becomes involved with the falconer Bartel and is later raped in a wooden hut. The centigress, concerned about morals and customs, then sends Fundvogel to a convent. She escapes from there and flees into the arms of Jan. When he learns from a letter from the countess what has happened to Andrea, he leaves her a second time. In her despair, Fundvogel then throws herself off a bridge into the floods with suicidal intent.
