Three different epochs through the gaze of three children: Zelinda, who loses her mother to the Spanish Flu during World War I and sees the specter of Nazism loom; Assunta, who lives during the Nazi occupation between bombings, raids, and executions; Icaro, who abandons the countryside during the Years of Lead (“Anni di Piombo”) and accepts a new life. A story across the difficulties and the troubles of the 20th century between memories, affection, nostalgia, and gratitude.

The story tells the journey of a young man and a dog. It evokes the time which passes, our incapacity or our lack of will to look at the little gifts of every day.

In the rural outskirts of Gaza City a small community of farmers, the Samouni extended family, is about to celebrate a wedding. It's going to be the first celebration since the latest war. Amal, Fuad, their brothers and cousins have lost their parents, their houses and their olive trees. The neighborhood where they live is being rebuilt. As they replant trees and plow fields, they face their most difficult task: piecing together their own memory. Through these young survivors' recollections, Samouni Road conveys a deep, multifaceted portrait of a family before, during and after the tragic event that changed its life forever.

About a man and his dream, which stop for a moment, and meet each other

For decades, Transalpina Square in Gorizia marked the dividing line between two different Nations and cultures. Alongside this segment of the Italy-Slovenia border, tragic events took place, though dreams and hopes persevered. It is thanks to those hopes and dreams that the separating wall was eventually torn down and the border was finally crossed.

Created for the municipality of Pergola, the film offers insight into the city's identity and historical context. It covers events across much of the country, juxtaposing land and war. We also hear the voices of Simone Massi's children. The author dedicates this work "to his children and to these children."
