When teacher Simon arrives in a small, secluded village to take over the local school, he is surprised to discover that his predecessor has disappeared without a trace - and that nobody seems too concerned about it. Three children visit their friend Bethie's clubhouse where they are encouraged to be as silly as possible as long as they learn and do well in school. Everything is silly at Bethie's clubhouse, the door tells knock-knock jokes, the books jockey to be read first, and the TV reminds Bethie when her favorite show "Ivana the Iguanna's Beauty Tips" is on. Add to that an assortment of silly visitors like Kitty Kat Man, Captain Schnorer the Worldwide Explorer and various talking animals who all break into wonderful musical numbers while educating the kids.

Two little girls hide in the boys' bathroom at school so they can find out what happens there. When two boys come in, the four gradually talk each other into taking off their clothes. The principal catches them, and angrily berates them for what they've been up to, warning them that he'll have to tell their parents about the incident. Later repercussions are seen as parents of three of them separately discuss and fight about what has happened, with some taking a winking attitude of their child's discovery and others battling about how to react. Returning to school poses an additional challenge, as everyone has found out what has gone on.

A man working in a fish cannery has a guilty conscience and begins to imagine he is a murderer. In his delirium/dream the fish try him for murder in a crazy court-room scene at the bottom of the ocean, which incorporates the 'Information, Please" radio routine, and also has a fish-jury who sing a little ditty called "There's Nothing On the End of the Hook." Re-released to theaters again in 1954, before Columbia sold it to television stations.
